The San Sebastian Festival’s short film competition will take place from Monday 25th to Friday 29th September 2017
The 16th International Film Students Meeting will open for registration today, on June 1st. Co-organized by the San Sebastian Festival and Tabakalera-International Contemporary Culture Centre of San Sebastian, proposes an exchange of audiovisual experiences and knowledge at one of the most important movie events in the world.
This year the Meeting will last five days, from Monday 25th to Friday 29th September, one more day than previous years. Thus the Festival strengthens one of the most important sections within its strategy of encouraging new talents.
Students can show their short films, attend meetings with professionals, workshops and the master classes which are held every year in the frame of the Meeting.
General public, professionals and the students will watch and comment the shorts selected generating an interesting discussion ranging from film theory and practice, the different models of production or how the film industry works.
Each candidate school can present a maximum of three short films all of them produced during the 2015/2016 or the 2016/2017 school years. Around 14 short films will be chosen to take part in the Meeting.
A specific jury, consisting of students from the participating schools and chaired by a personality from the world of film will choose the winner of the Panavision Award, carrying a complete camera package including RED Epic camera and Primo standard lenses for four weeks of filming, or a voucher worth €10,000 for renting any kind of Panavision material.
On the other hand, a specific jury, consisting of students from Basque schools, coordinated by a professor from the Mondragon University’s HUZEZI, and chaired by the Orona Fundazioa's Developing Director, will grant the Orona Award to the most cutting-edge film, worth 5.000€.
Projects can be registered online from today, June 1st. The deadline for receiving short films is July 1st. The International Film Students Meeting is part of the San Sebastian 2016 European Capital of Culture legacy.
