Hiria Hackeatu

Youngsters, city and makers

Compártelo:
  • Year: 2014 > 2018

New ways of constructing the city, of sharing and working as a community are currently being tried out. Neighbourhoods, streets and public spaces are places with great potential for learning. At the same time, the hacker and maker methodologies involve educational processes, open source production and collaborative work, thus facilitating ways of thinking and of creating and transforming our cities.

Hiria Hackeatu [Hack the city] is aimed at young people between 12 and 17 years old and takes place during holiday periods. Based on the hacker and maker philosophies, it is carried out in collaboration with Hirikilabs, Tabakalera's digital culture and technology laboratory. Together with the group of young people who participate in each workshop, we investigate the environment from a critical perspective and propose transformations with artefacts created collectively with the help of digital technologies.

In addition to the intensive workshops, during this course we propose to provide an opportunity for the young participants of Hiria Hackeatu in previous years to further explore their interests, with the aim of giving continuity to the learning processes. We meet each month to carry out activities that arise from the needs of the group.

Hack Back! Hacking Publicity and Counter-Publicity

26-12-2017 > 29-12-2017

Given that counter-publicity has taken hold of publicity techniques to invert the meaning of commercial messages; since it destroys, subverts and transforms those messages, this will be the tool we shall use to think, hack and express our opinions about the advertising messages that invade our lives.

Black spots, purple spots, green spots…

04-07-2017 > 07-07-2017

In what parts of the city do we feel safe? What parts of the city frighten us? What corners do we like to hide in? And what are the parts we veer towards to create relationships? We shall analyze the city from the standpoint of the emotions of its young people, then choose one of these points in where perform an artistic intervention and thus hack the city.
