Les yeux ne veulent pas en tout temps se fermer ou Peut-être qu’un jour Rome se permettra de choisir à son tour (Othon) / Eyes do not want to close at all times, or, Perhaps one day Rome will allow herself to choose in her turn (Othon)

The text recited in the film is the original and complete text by Pierre Corneille. During three months, the actors read it, learned it, rehearsed it and practised it. Later, recited just by heart, it was recorded during four weeks in the same place, always in the same time as the image. But the spoken text, the words, are not more important than the different rhythms and the tempos of the actors and their accents.” Jean-Marie Straub.
