Screening composed of the four short films based on Dialogues with Leucò by Cesare Pavese that Jean-Marie Straub directed on his own after Danièle Huillet’s death in 2007.

Le Genou d’Artémide (La rodilla de Artemisa)

In a forest clearing Endimión tells a foreigner about his brief encounter with Artemisa, the hunter goddess. The first film that Straub made without Huillet.

Shot in Buti like Le genou d’Artémide (both compose kind of a diptych), in this case we see two goddess, Circe and Leucotea, critizizing a mortal, Odiseo.
L’Inconsolable (El inconsolable)

Orpheus and Bacchante talks. Regurning from the forest of shades, Orpehus says that it was free will, not destiny, which compelled him to cast the fatal gaze on Eurydice, recognizing their love as a thing of the past and his own proper place in the world of living souls.

A hunter tries to understand why his mother killed him not long after he killed someone else. His conversational partner is a goddess who tries to explain to the deceased the complexity of the bonds established with a mother.
